After five years since we last shot together, Malea and I spent some time yesterday evening in the studio and it was long overdue! We captured some vintage style black and white portraits this time around. I hoped she would bring her magical ability to elevate my photography work with her, and I was not disappointed. Here’s the first of many I’ll be sharing from our shoot yesterday.
How perfect is it that last weekend I had my mother in the studio for her own Classic Hollywood style portrait session. Today is the perfect day to celebrate how great she did in front of the camera for these images. Happy Mother’s Day, Mom!! 🙂
I cannot get enough of this shot with Stacy from our recent classic Hollywood style portrait session. This style usually has the subject connected to something/someone off camera but here she is “lookin’ at you, kid”. I love the strong presence mixed with just a bit of smile that she has going on here.
Emily + Black &White + Camera = Awesome 🙂
I love the intensity that Emily brings to this “film noir” styled portrait. She has this unshakable connection to the camera here that begs the question ‘what’s on her mind’ but at the same time telling you not to ask.
On a side/technical note, that cigarette isn’t actually lit. The smoke and “cherry” were done in post. (Brenda would have killed me if we lit that up in her building)
Matt really stole the show this past weekend during my latest vintage style portrait shoot. We had a blast doing these photos and I have so many photos with Matt laughing during this shoot they might make for a post all their own
